Growing Up Daily ("we", "our", "the service") is a free resource for parents. This policy explains how your information is handled. The short version: almost no data leaves your device, and we are committed to the privacy of children above all else.

1. Data We Collect

Growing Up Daily stores the following data exclusively in your browser's localStorage on your device:

• Children's names and dates of birth
• Gender selections
• Your optional first name
• Lesson completion records (dates only)
• Private notes you write (stored only locally)
• Your optional email address (if you subscribe to reminders — see below)

This data is never transmitted to our servers. It is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, this data will not be recoverable.

2. Children's Privacy (COPPA / UK GDPR)

This service is designed to be used by parents and guardians, not directly by children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

The children's dates of birth and names you enter are stored only on your device and are used solely to personalise the lesson shown. This data is never transmitted, never processed on a server, and never shared with any third party.

Parents and guardians have full control over this data and can delete it at any time through Settings → Reset all data.

3. Email Reminders (Optional)

If you choose to subscribe to daily email reminders, your email address is processed by Buttondown, a privacy-focused email service. Buttondown's privacy policy governs how your email is stored and used. We use your email address only to send the Growing Up Daily daily lesson reminder. We never send marketing emails or share your address with any third party.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

4. Cookies and Tracking

Growing Up Daily does not use:

• Cookies (we use localStorage instead)
• Analytics trackers (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel)
• Advertising networks
• Third-party scripts (except Google Fonts for typography)

Google Fonts: We load fonts from Google Fonts. Google may log your IP address when fonts are requested. You can review Google's privacy policy for more information.

5. Data Storage and Security

All personal data entered into Growing Up Daily (children's details, notes, progress) is stored using your browser's localStorage API. This data:

• Never leaves your device
• Is not accessible to us or any third party
• Will be lost if you clear your browser data or use a private/incognito window
• Is not backed up or recoverable

We strongly recommend bookmarking the site and using a regular (non-private) browser window to ensure your data persists.

6. Your Rights (UK GDPR / GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access your data — all of it is visible within the app itself
• Delete your data — use Settings → Reset all data
• Portability — because all data is in your browser, you already have full access to it
• Object to processing — simply do not use the service

7. International Users

Growing Up Daily is available globally. Because all personal data is processed locally on your device and not transmitted to any server, questions of international data transfer do not generally apply to the core service. Email reminder subscriptions are processed by Buttondown (a US company) in accordance with applicable data protection law.

8. Sensitive Content

Some lessons cover topics including puberty, mental health, and child safety. These are clearly marked within the app. They are written for parents to use with their children and do not constitute medical, psychological, or safeguarding advice. If you have concerns about a child's wellbeing, please consult a qualified professional.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
